The Relay For Life is a fundraising event run by the Australian Cancer Council in different areas each year. Over 200 Relays are organised across Australia each year.
North Shore Cancer Council Relay For Life was held at Gore Hill Oval, St Leonards on the weekend. Cancer touches everyone’s lives, and we had lots of volunteers participating in the fun run. Valent Lau Photography was a major sponsor as well as the official Sydney Event Photographer. We were there on the day as to support the NSW Cancer Council and its North Shore branch.
Hundreds of cancer survivors, carers, and supporters from all over Sydney converged and walked or ran the track continuously for 24 hours from Saturday until Sunday. The largest single group this year was CanRevive from Haymarket, Sydney with 80 survivors and carers.
Throughout the day and night there was always someone on the track. Kathy Novak was there as MC again this year. There were bands, activities, and lots of fun for everyone involved.
These photographs will be used to further promote the event in future years, and create more publicity for the charity.
